The students continue to read independently while meeting with me to work on fluency and comprehension. Some students are part of a book talk group. They are reading Chocolate Touch. The students have also been working on Zooburst presentations. We will be using this website for a variety of activities.

The students are working hard making up for the lost time. Here is what is going on in 3-S....
Past: We finished up our cinquain poems, immigration and multiplication. We complete the reading of Drita, My Homegirl and had wonderful discussions about cultural diversity.
Present: We are starting division with remainders. The students are catching on really well and like to use different strategies to solve these problems. We are really enjoying our new Chromebooks! Thank you PTO! Students are creating presentations and documents of all kinds. If you have time, have your child share with you all that they have created so far. The students have also been using the books to do their word sorts, spelling homework and math work. We are currently working on some Valentine's Day writing. In social studies, we are learning about different cultures. The students are enjoying sharing their ethic and religious backgrounds also. In science, we continue to learn about simple machines.
Future: Some students will be starting a literature group reading The Chocolate Touch. Chromebooks will be coming home with students who paid for the insurance Wednesday afternoon. We will be celebrating Valentines Day on Feb. 14 at 2:30. Please see the parent letter being sent home today if you would like to volunteer.
