In writing, we are currently writing stories inspired by the book Duck on a Bike by David Shannon. The students used a graphic organizer to plan their story and then started writing their "sloppy copy". We have been practicing editing and they are ready to edit their own papers. What creative minds we have in here!!
In science, we are learning about the Earth's rotation and revolution and how this creates shadows and seasons. In social studies, the students learned how to use a compass rose to determine directions and how to measure distances on a map. They are currently "vacationing" at different locations around the U.S. Ask them where they visited today and what they learned there.
In math, the classes are review place value, addition and subtraction. The next unit will start in October and focus on multiplication and division. Please make sure to practice the math facts at night. The math facts practice website is a great resourse for this. You can find this under students links here on my blog.
